Middleton indie-rock outfit The Demo are set to release their brand-new single Before It’s All Gone on Friday the 10th of June. After three successful single releases and headliners in iconic Manchester venues such as Night and Day and the Breadshed, the five-piece is set to leave their mark on the Mancunian indie-rock scene with a headline show at Deaf Institute on the 24th of June. The band has a promising summer ahead of them, not only preparing for their headline slot, but also working on a music video to go with Before It’s All Gone. Guitarist Jack Dolan states: “‘Before it’s all gone’ started off as one riff, and then the rest of the song just came really naturally around it. The song takes a lot of influence from Stereophonics but also has an indie pop quality that makes for easy listening. The artwork perfectly reflects the positive feel of the track, although the lyrics are quite the other way, as is the same with a lot of our tracks.” The single was recorded at Eiger Studios with Dom Richmond. The indie-rockers, who recently joined indie label SoundMate, have the perfect sound for fans of the likes of Kings of Leon, Sam Fender, and Stereophonics.
Before It’s All Gone, staying true to proper English Indie-Rock, has a cheerful, upbeat sound. The two guitar sounds, created by Jack Dolan and Max Moore, perfectly accompany each other, and the vocal melody. Much like English Indie Rock legends such as Catfish and The Bottlemen, the lyrics of Before It’s All Gone directly contradict the cheerful instrumental parts. Written and sung by Louie Sweeney, the words illuminate a loss of direction and are perhaps comparable to Arctic Monkeys’ early days of teen angst and experience. The drum and bass, created by Matt Quinn and Luke Brown respectively, make up a perfect beat for indie nights and sweaty dance floors. The song intertwines Indie Rock and Indie Pop in a way that creates danceability and brings musicality to the forefront.
Before It’s All Gone perfectly encapsulates British Indie Rock. Being from Manchester themselves, The Demo are on the right track to leave their footprint on the vibrant music scene of the north. We cannot wait to see how The Demo will grow as a band and we are excited for what is yet to come!
